This is
a CCD photograph (above) of M17, the "Swan" Nebula. It was taken by
Paul
Sterngold and Todd Gross using a variety of instruments. Paul took the
luminosity file with the MX916 CCD by Starlight Xpress using an
Astrophysics
6" refractor in 2001. Todd took the color file in 1999 with a Starlight
Express MX5C and an Astrophysics "Traveler". Todd combined
the shots
in June 2001. Paul used an GM200 mount. Todd used simply a Super
Polaris
mount at the time. See if you can find the "mystery" object in the
photo,
towards the lower right. Don't be scared to enlarge this photo, Paul
did
a great job, it can be doubled in size.
